释义	历（歷）阳县秦置。因县南历水得名。治今安徽和县。属九江郡。西汉为九江郡都尉治。东汉为扬州刺史治。西晋以后历为历阳郡、南豫州及和州治。明初省入和州。地处南北津要，为江北重镇。隋末杜伏威起义，以此为根据地。
