释义	袁世敦清末河南项城人。袁世凯胞弟。光绪二十五年（1899）任济南候补知府、统带时，奉命统带亲兵马步队赴平原镇压朱红灯义和拳起义，在森罗殿被击败，却纵兵滥杀村民。旋因掩败邀功、滥杀无辜被参，清廷以“行为孟浪，纵勇扰民”予以革职处分。
