释义	晋陵县西晋永嘉五年（311）因避东海王越世子毗讳，改毗陵县置。治今江苏常州市。东晋义熙九年（413）后及南朝为晋陵郡治，隋时先后为常州、毗陵郡治，唐至元又与武进县同为常州、常州路治。明洪武初并入武进县。
