常识	四牡
释义	四牡《诗经·小雅》篇名。《诗序》认为“《四牡》，劳使臣之来也。有功而见知，则说矣”。清姚际恒、方玉润皆认为是“使臣自咏”（《诗经通论》、《诗经原始》），颇合诗意。当是使臣思归之诗。共五章，每章五句。全诗反复感叹“岂不怀归，王事靡盬”、“不遑将父”，“不遑将母”，思归不得养之意既立。“四牡”的赋句和“翩翩者”的兴句皆能含情蓄意，表现诗人风尘仆仆的辛苦和进退维谷的矛盾心理。后世“忠孝不能两全”或即以此诗为滥觞。古人在燕礼、乡饮酒礼中歌此诗。
